The former Death Row Records CEO, who is currently in LA County jail charged with murder and attempted murder, was with the star on the night he was gunned down in 1996.
During a phone interview, the producer claimed the California Love rapper’s murder remains a mystery to him, reports TMZ.
He said: “When I left that hospital me and Pac was laughing and joking.
“So I don’t see how somebody can turn from doing well…to doing bad.”
When pressed on whether he actually thought the outspoken megastar was still alive, Knight said: “I’m gonna tell you that with Pac…you never know.”
On September 7, 1996, Tupac was shot four times, including twice in the chest, after attending a Mike Tyson boxing fight in Las Vegas with Knight.
Six days later, the musician died from internal bleeding after being placed in an induced coma.
Conspiracy theorists have accused Knight as being responsible for orchestrating the drive-by shooting but his alleged involvement has never been proven.
The interview with the notorious record producer was part of a documentary titled “Who Shot Biggie & Tupac?” which airs on Fox on September 24.
